Dimitris Maroulis was born in 1967, in Lamia, Greece.

In 1981 he started taking lessons in martial arts in Panayiotis Koutroumbas’ Martial Arts Academy.

He has a Degree in Physical Education and Sports from the German Sports University of Cologne, majoring in Kung Fu. He is the holder of a Black Belt 2nd degree in Kung Fu, Black Belt 2nd degree in Okinawa Karate and a certified by the Greek Ministry of Sports and Education Pankratiast rank 5.

He is also a certified and licenced by the German Ministry of Sports and Education Pankration Athlima Trainer and Kung Fu Trainer. He is a certified and licenced by the Greek Ministry of Sports and Education Judo Trainer and holder of a Black belt in Judo.

He is a 3 times Greek Champion in Okinawa Karate and he has won the German Kung Fu Championship twice.

He participated in the European Championship in Milan, in Italy, in 1987 and in Salzburg, in Austria, in 1988.

He served in the Greek army as a Military Police Sergeant Major.
